In collaboration with our coffee cart, Jet Fuel, I created a bar that blends my love of soap and Brock and I’s equal love of coffee.
On December 28th 1978 the McDonnell Douglas crashed in suburban Portland. Ask someone who was around during that time, chances are they will remember this day. Somehow the nose of the airplane ended up in a scrap yard in Portland for many decades to come.
Several years ago Brock and his dad were at this local scrap yard and saw the airplane. It took many months of convincing before the owner decided to let go of the plane. Imagine seeing this airplane nose on a trailer pulling into your house?! They had a mutual dream of turning this airplane into a coffee cart called Jet Fuel. Unfortunately, Brocks father passed away a few years ago, but Brock continued pursuing their idea and finally opened up last year! I know Steve would be beyond proud.
Great coffee is what Portland is known for. I’ve never traveled anywhere else that has our level of coffee and that’s just one of the reasons I love Portland so much. We decided to go with a local coffee roaster just down the street called Coava Coffee for the coffee we serve. Supporting small local businesses are so important to us. This is the same coffee grounds you’ll find in my coffee scrub bar.
*This bar is a luxurious blend of all things coffee. Coffee is a natural deodorizer and can remove strong scents like BO and garlic. It has a great natural exfoliant making it good for those that work with their hands like mechanics or gardeners.
If you're ever in the Portland area visit our coffee cart at The Hawthorne Asylum Food carts.
